Bremen Chowk Signal now starts at 8 am

SPTM members from Aundh Circle, Sujay Bose and Akshara Kaginalkar coordinated with Aundh Traffic Police to start the signal in Bremen Chowk at 8 am instead of 9 am. This helped school children, their parents and school buses to ply more safely when going to school.

SPTM and Parents Teachers Association of BVB Paranjpe School overcome Road Block (literally)

There is a big road work going on in front of BVB Paranjpe School in Kothrud. It was blocking both gates of the school when school was to reopen on 15th June.  It was a challenge to manage smooth entry and exit of 1,500 children every day.

School principal Ms Phelomena Gaikwad and her staff along with PTA took this challenge. They invited Save Pune Traffic Movement (SPTM) for guidence in planning and implementing a process for safe students drop-off and pickup. Ms Sujata Tilak, Head of Students' Safety of SPTM, Mr Vikram Lele, SPTM member and parent along with school principal made a plan considering all eventualities. SPTM volunteers helped staff and PTA volunteers in actual implementation of the plan for first few days since school started on 15th June. This process greatly increased students' safety and at the same time avoided traffic jams around the school. All parents and rickshaw kakas have welcomed this arranegment. We are glad to note that this arrangement is now continuing with very little monitoring.

SPTM has also helped school in making a drop-off pickup plan after the road work is finished. This will streamline the traffic around school and set a good example of traffic discpline for the students.
